Early Biedermeier 19th Century in The Directoire
or Directory style takes its name from the period 1795–1799 when France was
ruled by a government of Directors – the Directory. Directory style was not so
much an independent style in itself, but rather a transitionary style between
that of Louis XVI and the Consular and Empire styles.
was a period in the decorative arts, fashion, and especially
furniture design in France concurrent with the Directory the later part of the
French Revolution. The style uses Neoclassical architectural forms, minimal
carving, planar expanses of highly grained veneers .
This daybed would make a fantastic addition to a traditional
lounge , fine work of art , both sides of the bed are shaped into a semi-circular form , the End
